A true power forward, Shane is a physical presence on the ice. Checking in at 5 feet 11 inches and 190 pounds, he combines size, with speed, strength, and unmatched competitiveness. He is, arguably, the best hockey player in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League.
A scoring threat anytime he steps on the ice, he is the leading goal scorer among all players in either division this season. A sniper with the puck, he is a game changing player. But while his goal scoring prowess is most impressive, he is much more than just an offensive asset. An exceptional two-way player, he is an aggressive forechecker, and skates down opponents on the back check like a cheetah running down its prey. His strength is clearly evident when digging pucks out of the corners where he will fearlessly battle with any opponent. Once he has the puck, his stick handling skills make it extraordinarily difficult for anyone to take it away. His effort and focus on winning are unsurpassed.
Devoted to excellence, he hones his skills in practice sessions with playoff game intensity. No one works harder or demands more of themselves than Shane. He sets the example for all his teammates to emulate.
His leadership as team captain is unequaled. Respected and admired, he not only sets the example. but possesses the maturity to take charge and guide his teammates when appropriate. Capable of carrying the team himself, when necessary, his ability to motivate his fellow players is exceptional. Shane makes everyone a better player simply by his presence.
Away from the rink, Shane is a leader in the classroom, as well. Enrolled in the demanding Engineering and design curriculum of the Career and Technical Education Program he excels academically. Honored as an Academic All-Division player, he exemplifies the best qualities of the classic student athlete.
