Owen embodies the tenacity and motivation a coach hopes to find in any athlete. As a 3-sport athlete, he maintains a 4.0 GPA while challenging himself with honor and AP classes. Owen responds to the call of leadership, has great character and displays outstanding sportsmanship. His thoughtful remarks and comments are well received by his team and coaches. It is true that Owen distinguished himself by his personal hard work, but also has earned much respect for his demonstrated ability to foster growth in our younger players. Owen’s leadership skills were recognized by his teammates as they elected him a team Captain (as a junior) on the hockey and baseball teams. He was elected a captain on the football team this season. His dedication in the classroom, around our community and during competition is second to none. He is a competitor that enjoys being challenged to elevate his game and that of his teammates. Owen also provides many hours of service back to the local youth hockey association and surrounding community. He participates in fundraising events, community service projects, school projects and assists with our local Learn-to-Play and Sled hockey programs. He is also one of our team’s academic ambassadors who help tutor teammates during our study table sessions. I’m confident that these traits will follow him through his college life and beyond.
