Countdown to Hobey:

Natalie Campbell

2025 | Minnesota | GIRLS

Rochester Mayo | Spartans | GIRLS

This season, Natalie Campbell didn’t just wear the captain’s letter—she worked to earn the team’s respect that came with having that “C” on her jersey. She recognized the player and teammate she had been in the past, took an honest look at where she wanted to grow, and fully embraced what it meant to be a leader.

Natalie grew in ways that were impossible to ignore. She found her voice in the locker room, pushed her teammates to be better, and, most importantly, held herself to the same standard. Natalie was a positive force when things weren’t going our way and when emotions ran high, when a bad penalty or frustration got the best of her, she didn’t brush it off—she owned it. She would come back later, look a coach or teammate in the eye, and say, “That’s on me.” That level of self-awareness and accountability is rare, even in great leaders, but as a young leader Natalie embraced it fully.

She understood that leadership wasn’t just about what happened during games but about the example she set every moment—on the ice, on the bench, in the locker room. She didn’t just talk about competing harder; she threw herself into every battle. Her transformation this season was incredible to watch—not because she changed who she was, but because she grew into the leader her team needed.

For her relentless growth, accountability, and leadership, I am honored to nominate Natalie Campbell for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
