Murphy Linehan, a senior at Valley Lutheran High School and captain of the Mid-Michigan Alliance girls’ hockey team, exemplifies the qualities honored by the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. A 4.0 student throughout high school, Murphy has balanced her academic achievements with her dedication to athletics, including being a member of the golf and bowling teams, while excelling as a leader on the ice.

As captain, Murphy has earned the trust of her teammates and coaches through her coachability and dedication. Her work ethic and positive attitude inspire others to give their best every day. She leads by example, modeling integrity, humility, and unmatched sportsmanship, always showing respect to teammates, opponents, and officials alike.

Off the ice, Murphy’s commitment to community building is extraordinary. She has volunteered at a local women’s shelter, helped build houses with Habitat for Humanity, mentored young players, and actively worked to grow the game she loves.
