Countdown to Hobey:

Mallory Pierz

East Catholic High School | Storm | GIRLS

Mallory Pierz was an accomplished center for her freshman and sophomore seasons with our high school hockey team. In her junior year, with significant losses due to graduation on our blueline, she selflessly volunteered to move to defender to bolster her team’s chances of advancing to the state semifinals for the second straight season. As a senior, Mallory was selected as Captain of the team as a reflection of the esteem in which she is held by both her teammates and her coaches, and as a testament to her overall character. Mallory is a three sport high school athlete, and it is no coincidence that in the fall, Mallory Pierz had also been selected as captain of the East Catholic varsity field hockey team. She has not disappointed as ice hockey captain. In her leadership role, she has handled every challenge this season with deft, and along with quiet professionalism and a team-first mentality on the ice, she lead the team to its first regular season conference title in a decade. Mallory Pierz is also an outstanding student-athlete and member of the East Catholic High School community. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the East Catholic Executive Board; she has received academic Honors with Distinction in every semester of high school; she has been a member of the Central Connecticut Conference All Academic Team every ice hockey season in high school; and she is the recipient of her high school’s AP Scholar Award and the Worcester Polytech Institute STEM Leadership Award. She is an easy selection to be nominated for this award in my estimation.
