Leighton was a skater throughout youth hockey. During his sophomore season of high school hockey, injuries and things out of our control left the program with one total goaltender eligible to play Varsity and JV games – to allow his teammates the opportunity to continue playing JV Hockey, Leighton decided to put the pads on and become a full time goaltender. At the conclusion of the season, he moved forward as a full time goaltender in which he played almost every minute for the JV his junior and senior seasons, as well as appearing in two varsity games. Without Leighton, our JV program would not have existed for half of the 2022-2023 season, and the entire 2023-2024 season. Most important was Leighton was to provide an opportunities to play the same game he loves and work as hard as he can to be a legitimate high school goaltender – both of which he achieved.
