The Portside Royals Varsity Hockey team is a merged New York State Public High School Athletics Association team between Spencerport High School and Brockport High School. Justin is a Spencerport student that was a part of the merger when it started in the 2020-21 school year. Justin has played all four seasons with the team, playing in 70 games, recording 27 goals and 27 assists for 54 points.

However, Justin is more than just a point getter. Justin has played in every position for this team, and his senior season is no different. Justin was named an Alternate Captain by our team and coaching staff at the beginning of the season. He usually is our first line center but has been crucial in every aspect of the game, on and off the ice. During a 3-1 victory against a top team in our section, Justin played defense for half the game. He would go back and forth on the bench to play a shift on defense, then go back to his offensive line when it was their turn in the rotation. During the penalty kill, he would play defense if one of our defensemen took a penalty and made sure the unit did their job together during those important moments of the game.

His hardworking passion for the game has always been shown in his efforts on the ice. His quiet personality adds to his leadership qualities. Our younger players look up to him as a role model. Justin is always the first person on the ice, and last person off the ice. He wears the Portside logo and the “A” with pride, and passion.

Justin’s commitment to the team has not gone unnoticed. Earlier in the season, Justin reached out to me to have a 1 on 1 meeting. He asked what he could do to better support our team. He asked what he needed to do to keep pushing our program in the right direction. His integrity has always been focused on the team over the individual. This showed in the final stretches of his senior season on the ice. Justin helped push the players around him to be better team players instead of individuals, which has helped put our team in the position to win a Sectional Title.
