Jared Mckiernan

Beavercreek High School | Beavers | BOYS

Jared Mckiernan is Beavercreek High School’s Hobey Baker Character Award recipient for a simple reason: he makes everything and everyone around him better. His character and moral courage were on full display when he decided to tackle the physically and emotionally demanding sport of ice hockey as a Junior in high school. His unparalleled coachability, determination and work-ethic quickly moved him from “learn to skate” to Varsity level. Jared displayed true leadership traits as a leader in the school’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadet. Jared’s patriotism extended well beyond the corps when this self-taught guitarist performed the National Anthem before several school sporting events. This exceptional teammate helped solidify the teams “best effort” and “respect for all” cultures by mentoring his underclass teammates on the themes and holding them accountable to display them too. Jared is well-known and respected as one of only four male “Senior Mentors” in the entire school district, where he provides outreach assistance, social skill development, and peer support to over 2,000 middle-schoolers thereby enabling their educational pursuits. Finally, Jared’s sportsmanship is unmatched. He leads by example guided by integrity, a blue-collar work ethic, and a servant’s mindset. The distinctive accomplishments of Jared Mckiernan reflect the highest levels of selfless service to his teammates, school, and community. This is why he is the 2025 Beavercreek High School’s Hobey Baker Award recipient.
