Every year we look for one of our players who displays the characteristics warranted for the Hobey Baker Character Award. This season’s nominee displayed these characteristics on a daily basis for the last four years. Jake Roux is an amazing teammate; it does not matter to him if you are on the first line or fourth line; freshman or senior. He is every players biggest supporter. Jake is always the one with an encouraging word, a simple gesture or a show of support no matter the situation. Since Jake has come to play for us I have realized that while he always displays these strengths, it is when things are at their worst that he truly shines and impacts the team where few are able. The best part of Jake’s story is that is truly who he is! I have seen him react the same way in school and on the soccer field, and all the while, Jake does it for nothing in return. It is a part of who he is as a person, student and athlete. This is who he is and I am proud to nominate him for the Hobey Baker Character Award.
