To: The Hobey Baker High School Character Award Committee

I am honored to nominate Jack Rielage, from the Brebeuf Jesuit Varsity Hockey program for the 2025 Hobey Baker High School Character Award. Jack exemplifies the core values of character, leadership, and dedication both on and off the ice, making him an outstanding candidate for this prestigious recognition.

Now in his Senior year, Jack has been a four-year letterman for the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School hockey team, earning Team MVP honors during his Sophomore and Junior years. Throughout his high school career, Jack has become a cornerstone of our team, leading by example with his relentless work ethic and unwavering commitment. His journey as a hockey goalie has been marked by continuous improvement, culminating in an incredible achievement of over 2,000 saves and a pivotal role in leading our team to a State Tournament Championship bid, finishing as D1A Runners Up.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Jack has demonstrated remarkable leadership and maturity. In his senior season, he was selected as an Alternate Captain, a first in our program’s history. His leadership extended beyond the rink, bringing positive energy and a strong sense of community to our locker room. Jack was always willing to support team needs, whether it was preparing water bottles, setting a tone for workouts, or contributing creatively to our team’s digital content and social media channels.

Jack’s talents are not confined to hockey. He is an accomplished guitarist and has been a driving force behind the creative digital content for our team’s social media. His passion for digital media and creative design is evident, and he plans to further pursue this at the University of Cincinnati next year. Jack is also a strong student, excelling in the rigorous college preparatory curriculum at Brebeuf. He was selected to the All-State Academic Team for Hockey for the 2024-2025 season.

Jack embodies the spirit of Brebeuf’s motto, “Men and Women for Others.” His leadership extends into the broader community, serving as a leader of the Guitar Club and supporting the hockey program through his creativity and service. He was also selected to be a Senior Leader for the Kairos Retreat this year, to support his fellow students on this important event in the Jesuit curriculum. His family has always been active in community support, and Jack has wholeheartedly embraced this philosophy, consistently demonstrating generosity, humility, and a selfless approach to helping others.

Jack’s journey from a freshman navigating the challenges of varsity hockey to a senior leader and role model is a testament to his resilience and character. He has used his hockey experience as a source of motivation, applying the lessons learned to all areas of his life.

For all these reasons, I strongly recommend Jack for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. He is a young man of exceptional character and integrity, and I am confident that he will continue to make a positive impact in his community and beyond.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Tim Harvey
