Dear Members of the Hobey Baker Award Selection Committee,

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I, Coach Robert Degard of the Munster Mustangs Hockey Club, nominate Ian Karas for the Hobey Baker Award, an honor reserved for the finest individuals in hockey who embody the ideals of character, sportsmanship, and excellence both on and off the ice.

Ian has been an integral part of our hockey program and a shining example of what it means to be a leader. As a player, Ian consistently demonstrated exceptional skill, tireless work ethic, and an unparalleled commitment to his team. His ability to perform under pressure, make smart decisions in crucial moments, and lead by example has set him apart as one of the most respected players in the league.

Off the ice, Ian’s contributions to his community and academic achievements further illustrate his worthiness of this esteemed award. His teammates, coaches, and fans alike admire him for his integrity, positivity, and genuine kindness.

As Ian’s coach, I wholeheartedly believe that he exemplifies everything the Hobey Baker Award stands for.
