Cade has represented Chatfield Chargers Junior Varsity Ice Hockey team through his dedication, his energy, effort, and love for the game on and off the ice this past season. He is a student of the game and leads by example always giving his very best learning and implementing what the coaches are asking for day in and day out. It has been a joy to watch Cade grow as a young man and athlete throughout the seasons. His development as a hockey player is the kind of positive and rapid growth that a coach loves to brag about to other coaches and we would love to take credit for it but it is in fact due to Cade’s tenacity and grit to never give up. He exemplifies the Hobey Baker mantra of “Character Builds Excellence”; his character is one that we, as coaches, can point to as an example for other players. His excellence is not conventional hockey skills on the ice but something greater, and more applicable to life beyond hockey.
During these past 2 seasons with Chatfield, Cade has helped as a mentor with the younger teams whenever he can, especially the Mile High Mites program for youths who have never skated before as well as the JEFFCO Adapted Athletics “HOCKEY DAY – South Area Schools” at Bear Creek High School every February dedicating his time and giving back to the game and community. His patience, dedication and love of the game has had a positive influence on the lives of these young boys and girls around him and has helped grow Chatfield Hockey into one of the best player development organizations in the Denver, CO area. Cade’s character, drive, willingness, and determination to strive for greatness and selflessness toward a team sport and growth of youths in the game allows me without reservation for this recommendation for The Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
