Samuel “Sam” Pies is a senior at Batavia high school. Sam has exhibited great strength scholastically and athletically while here at BHS. Sam is also involved in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Sam was also a top performing student in my sports medicine course. Sam has been an athlete in my hockey program for five years. He is a leader and an athlete I can rely on in crucial situations.
Sam is a respectful and kind young man that values his coaches, teachers, and teammates.

As a student, Sam was a quality contributor in my collegiate sports medicine course. He maintained an A average all four quarters. Sam was a catalyst to the success of many of my lessons. This course requires much participation. I could rely on Sam to provide leadership and volunteer when other students would be unsure of themselves. Sam grasps difficult content quickly, reads and writes at a collegiate level, and takes his education very seriously. Sam’s work ethic is exemplary. Sam maintains an average very near 98% and will graduate from Batavia High summa cum laude. Sam demonstrates to his peers, an exemplary model of what a quality student should be.

As an athlete, Sam is a quality teammate and a ferocious competitor. Sam competes for BHS on our varsity hockey and baseball teams. He values competition and respects the individuals he competes against. Sam understands the benefits of participation and maintaining poise in athletics. I anticipate that Sam will demonstrate a life-long appreciation for fitness and wellness.

As a community service provider, Sam demonstrated maturity beyond his years. He was involved with National Honor Society, link crew and has even assisted the Genesee Amateur Hockey Association with teaching our communities youth how to play hockey. Sam also lends a hand with the family business in Batavia. Sam has an extensive background of volunteer work. Sam’s involvement at BHS demonstrates maturity, dependability and leadership.

As a person Sam Pies is an introspective young man. Sam is one of the most mature, balanced, and academically talented students I have encountered in thirty years of educating adolescents. He is a respectful young man who is truly thankful for the opportunities he has been provided with. I expect tremendous accomplishments from Sam, and I know well enough that he expects the same of himself.
