Parkway West Longhorns | Longhorns | BOYS
Colin McCammon displays all the characteristics which the Hobey Baker High School Character Award celebrates. His love for the game is unquestioned, as he has dedicated himself for the past four seasons not only to his Parkway West hockey team, but to his Chesterfield Falcons team as well. Colin is a proven leader. He was voted Assistant Captain his Junior Season and Captain his Senior Season. His leadership style is embodied by playing the game with a great deal of sportsmanship, leading by example, demonstrating excellent listening skills, and a quiet, calm presence no matter the situation. Colin’s teammates define him as someone who always works hard, is always positive, and is always ready to work with younger players to help them learn. His time mentoring on the bench is often limited based on the number of minutes he logs on the ice each game, playing in all game situations – power play, penalty kill, and often asked to play against opponents’ top line at even strength. On top of his innate abilities, Colin has tremendous hockey sense, an impressive defensive prowess, and contributes offensively as well. All of which led to being named Team MVP at the end of his Sophomore Season. Away from the rink, Colin takes all these characteristics to the lacrosse field, where he is a key piece of Parkway West’s lacrosse team. On top of all Colin’s success in athletics is his success in the classroom. Colin will graduate from Parkway West with a GPA well above 4.0 and plans to study Chemical Engineering in college. The Hobey Baker High School Character Award believes “Character makes the game better.” Colin’s character has undoubtedly made Parkway West’s hockey team better each of the last four years.
