Annabelle Metell is the kind of player every coach dreams of having on their team—hardworking, selfless, and fiercely dedicated. From the moment she steps on the ice, she leads by example, demonstrating an unmatched work ethic and a relentless drive to improve.

But what truly sets Annabelle apart is her character. She plays with integrity, always putting the team first and lifting up those around her. She never takes shortcuts, never backs down from a challenge, and always competes with respect for the game and her opponents. Her leadership extends beyond the rink—she’s a role model in the locker room, encouraging younger players and fostering a culture of hard work and accountability.

One of the most defining moments of Annabelle’s season came when our team needed stability on defense, Annabelle Metell stepped up without hesitation, transitioning from her usual position. Despite it being unfamiliar, her relentless work ethic and determination made an immediate impact, proving her commitment to the team above all else. That moment encapsulated everything that makes her deserving of this award—grit, composure, and an unwavering love for the game.

The Hobey Baker Award isn’t just about skill; it’s about honoring players who represent the very best of hockey. Annabelle Metell is exactly that—a natural leader and a person of outstanding character. She embodies what it means to play the game the right way, and that’s why she deserves this recognition.
