Layke Miller leads his life and demonstrates the characteristics of The Hobey Baker Award on a daily basis. His integrity, academic achievement, and sportsmanship are outstanding. Not only is he a solid hockey player, but an excellent person as well. His qualities include team before me, always hungry, never complains, never, ever quit, and win or lose you shake your opponent’s hand celebrating a contest well fought. Layke’s leadership skills have become more apparent as the season progressed Layke’s leadership is most noticeable when helping the younger players on the team and in the youth program. When he talks, the team listens. Layke always says the right things bringing the team together, raising the morale, and getting the best from them. He displays these qualities in hockey, but she also in the classroom and community. For these reasons, I nominate Layke Miller for this year’s Hobey Baker candidate for the Luverne Cardinals.
