Maddy has been with our program for all of her High School career. She plays defense for our team and has been a consistent, reliable player for every practice and every game. She has developed on-ice to become a solid defensive force with a no-nonsense shot from the point. More notably she has balanced her hockey career with an incredibly active and diverse portfolio of high school activities. From singing, to advanced classwork, to being the project manager for her groups, Maddy is involved. As a United team, we are comprised of students from seven schools. Maddy welcomes the new players, ensuring they share in our positive team culture. But she also supports our returning players by ensuring that they, too, are having the best season they can have. One of her top priorities is the positive mental health of her teammates – bringing her smile, her hugs, or just her listening to players who might otherwise have felt lost in such a diverse squad or distracted by the struggles of high school. This depth of character and recognition of Maddy’s service to the team is our reason for nominating Madelynne Conrad for the Hobey Baker Character Award for 2025.
