The HPHL Northern Aliance-Varsity coaching staff proudly recognizes Sean Finnegan as this year’s Hobey Baker High School Character Award recipient. In the face of personal tragedy with the recent loss of his father Rodney, Sean has demonstrated extraordinary resilience and unwavering commitment to his team. Sean exemplifies his father’s profound love for hockey, carrying forward the passion that Rodney instilled in him from his earliest years on the ice. Like his father who transitioned from coach to equipment manager, Sean’s dedication to the game transcends personal achievement, focusing instead on building up those around him.
Sean stands out as both a vocal leader in the locker room and a consistent pacesetter during warm-up skates. His natural ability to encourage teammates and quickly build team chemistry is matched by his fierce competitive spirit on the ice. Sean competes with passion while maintaining respectful interactions with teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents alike. Through his actions both on and off the ice, Sean honors not only the true spirit of hockey that the Hobey Baker Award celebrates, but also his father’s legacy of devotion to the game they both cherish.
