I have the honor to recommend Ella Brisbois for the Hobey Baker award. For
three hockey seasons I served as the head coach of the Duluth Northern Stars,
where Ella Brisbois has acted as our Assistant Captain.
As a person, Ella is compassionate and strives to make an impact on her
community. Ella has experienced hardship within her life that many students don’t
have to. I am proud of her and everything she has worked through. Ella has a
tremendous work ethic and positive leadership skills that help her foster and
develop relationships and make an impact on the world around her including her
team and teammates. Ella prioritizes school, family, sports, mental health and
community involvement She is motivated and realistic with any role or task given
to her. She speaks when words are needed and shares the silence when they are
not. She faces trials head on and continues to impress me with her growth.
Once again, I would like to express that Ella is a top candidate for this award. I
believe her athletic abilities, academic achievement, and leadership traits on and off
the ice make her the top canidate of our program. She would be a
fantastic selection for this.
