Derek has been the student-athlete every coach would love to have the opportunity to coach. Not just his senior season but all 4 years of highschool. Being selected for varsity as a freshman and having a learning role through that teams undefeated season, Derek learned what it meant to play Green Wave Hockey. More importantly, Wiss is a natural leader. Having played regular shifts from Sophomore-Senior seasons and being proud to wear the “C” on his chest, Derek continued his passion for the sport and his team.

Not only does he participate in varsity sports all 3 seasons, Derek also works full time, and already attends college courses.

Add to that his numerous community service projects he is a part of.

When it comes to understanding that high-school hockey is a life lessons opportunity, he continues to drive his leadership on and off the ice.
